Description
Application:
It is a perfect methylating agent, a carbonylation agent, with active chemical properties. It can be used to produce polypropylene carbonate. In pharmaceuticals and pesticides, DMC can be used to produce ciprofloxacin and carbadox. Also, it is an indispensable raw material to produce lithium battery electrolytes. Because of its excellent chemical and environmental properties, recently DMC has been acting as a good solvent for coating, paints, ink, and adhesives substituting benzene, xylene, ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, acetone, butanone, and toluene. It is an ideal substitute for toxic substances such as phosgene, dimethyl sulfate, etc. In a word, it is a green chemical.

Health Hazard:
May cause toxic effects if inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Inhalation or contact with material may irritate or burn skin and eyes. Fire will produce irritating, corrosive, and/or toxic gases. Vapors may cause dizziness or suffocation. Runoff from fire control or dilution water may cause pollution.
Fire Hazard:
HIGHLY FLAMMABLE: Will be easily ignited by heat, sparks, or flames. Vapors may form explosive mixtures with air. Vapors may travel to the source of ignition and flash back. Most vapors are heavier than air. They will spread along the ground and collect in low or confined areas (sewers, basements, tanks). Vapor explosion hazard indoors, outdoors, or in sewers. Runoff to sewer may create fire or explosion hazards. Containers may explode when heated. Many liquids are lighter than water.
